Anwesha Chakraborty
Anwesha Chakraborty is a dedicated and trained mental health professional currently serving as a psychologist at Ummeed Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Bangalore. As a full-time psychologist at our centre, Anwesha focuses on empowering individuals with psychiatric concerns by building on mental strength, connecting empathetically and collaboratively work on the client’s needs. Originally from West Bengal and hailing from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Anwesha is fluent in Hindi, English and Bengali. Her compassionate nature, along with her communication and problem-solving skills, aids in the therapeutic alliance, providing clients with a safe and nurturing environment to talk and work on their concerns.
Anwesha has completed her Masters in Science in Clinical Psychology from CHRIST University, Central Campus, Bangalore, Karnataka. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology honours from Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. She also has a diploma in counseling psychology completed from the same university. Anwesha is a certified art-based therapist who uses art-based therapeutic interventions based on the client’s needs.
Anwesha’s previous work experience includes working as a trainee therapist in Abhaya Hospital and Stepping Stones in Bangalore. She has also worked in NIDAAN Institute for Rehabilitation and Training and Aarushi Foundation in Bhopal. Coming from a diverse training background with children, adolescents, adults and geriatric population, she has worked extensively with cases of depression, anxiety, personality issues, mood & emotional regulation and stress management. She has also worked in areas of couples counseling, self-esteem & self-confidence issues, interpersonal, relationship and family related issues.
Anwesha possesses comprehensive training and practice in psychometric assessments, therapeutic management and psychological theoretical formulations. Anwesha has practised as a trainee psychologist under clinical psychologist from NIMHANS, gaining supervision, guidance and insights about clinical cases. She has been practising individual and group therapy sessions across diverse client backgrounds.
Using a client-centred and eclectic approach to address her clients’ concerns, Anwesha is also proficient in using CBT, REBT and DBT therapeutic modalities. She tailors and brings forth a therapeutic approach suitable to the client’s abilities and preferences. She believes in promoting autonomy and agency in clients. Anwesha not only focuses on personal factors for the client’s healing journey but also emphasises occupational, social & interpersonal and functional factors to promote holistic development in the clients to promote holistic and overall well-being. Anwesha has been associated with us since day one of the centre’s establishment, dedicating her skills to the betterment of the clients.
